Bruce Franke Jr.
PT MSc OCS MTC FAAOMPT

Received his Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica, in Duluth MN in 1987 and his Master of Sciences in Orthopedic Physical Therapy through the University of St. Augustine, in 2001.  Mr. Franke is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) with the American Physical Therapy Association and a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). Mr. Franke received The 2003 The Therex Award for Excellence in a Published Case Study for his article “Formative Dynamics: The Pelvic Girdle.”  In November 2007, Bruce Franke presented his recent research in Barcelona Spain at the World Congress for Low Back Pain.  Bruce has been instructing courses in manual therapy and therapeutic exercise for the spine, rib cage and pelvis for more than 15 years.  Mr. Franke currently practices in an outpatient private practice in Tucson AZ, specializing in orthopedic manual therapy and spinal rehabilitation.  His clinical and research interests include management of chronic pain related to spinal and pelvic instability, and scoliosis.

Erl Pettman

Erl Pettman received his diploma in Physiotherapy from the Nottingham School of Physiotherapy (England) in 1972 and from the National Academy of Acupuncture in 1976. He has been an Examiner for the Canadian Manual Therapy Examinations since 1980 and Chief Examiner from 1982-2002. In addition to being a Senior Faculty with NAIOMT, he has been a certified manual therapy instructor for the Olaf Evenjth system since 1990. His chapter on Upper Cervical Instability was published in Modern Manual Therapy, 2nd Ed 1992 and he has presented papers at IFOMT Proceedings in 1984, 1988 and 1992. Erl Pettman developed the integrated quadrant system of evaluation in 1980, a three-month manual therapy course in Western Canada in 1982 and founded the NAIOMT in 1984. Erl Pettman is a practicing physical therapist working in two clinics within British Columbia, Canada.  He specializes in orthopaedic manual therapy of patients suffering from chronic spinal problems resulting from workplace and motor vehicle accidents. Over his physical therapy career of 35 years, he has been an accomplished international teacher of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (OMT), an innovator of educational programs within Canada and the United States and has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international symposia. His recently published book on manipulative thrust techniques of the spine undoubtedly epitomizes his overview of the practice of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy.

Jim Meadows
BScPT MCPA FCAMT

Jim has 30 years of clinical and teaching experience throughout North America, Britain and Norway. His first teacher of manual therapy was James Cyriax and he continued his learning in Norway and Canada, earning his certificate in Manipulative Therapy in 1983. He was chair of the Canadian Orthopedic Divisions Education and Specialization Committees for 12 years and a past Examiner and Instructor with the Canadian Orthopedic Division. Jim is a co-founder and a Senior Faculty Member and Senior Examiner with the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy. He is a past faculty member of the University of Alberta and current adjunct faculty at the Texas Women’s University, Andrews University, MI, the Massachusetts Institute of Health Sciences, MA and the University of Maryland at Baltimore, MD. He also visits and lectures at the University of Pittsburgh, PA. He has presented at National and International Conferences on Manual Therapy and has published in numerous journals. His video series Manual Therapy and textbook Orthopedic Differential Diagnosis in Physical Therapy are sold throughout North America.

Mark Bookhout
PT MS FAAOMPT

Mr. Bookhout received his Certificate in Physical Therapy from the Mayo Clinic in 1977 and his Master’s Degree in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy from the Institute of Graduate Health Sciences in Atlanta, Georgia in 1982. In April of 1983 he co-founded Physical Therapy Orthopaedic Specialists, Inc., a private practice physical therapy clinic which specializes in evaluation and treatment of spinal dysfunction.

Mr. Bookhout has taught numerous courses throughout the United States since l981.  He is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.  In 1992, Mr. Bookhout developed a course on exercise as a compliment to manual medicine as part of the Michigan State Continuing Medical Education Program. 

Mr. Bookhout has authored numerous articles regarding the evaluation and treatment of patients with thoracic and low back pain and is the co-editor of the 6th Edition of Bourdillon’s Spinal Manipulation, published in 2002.

Ad Warmerdam
DO MRO (Nl) DHSc MS PT MTC (USA)

Ad Warmerdam, was first trained as a physical therapist in the Netherlands and later became an Osteopath. He studied different schools of manual therapies and received his Doctorate from the University of St. Augustine, FL.

Dr. Warmerdam conducts courses internationally about the interaction between muscles, joints and the nervous system. His holistic views are incorporated in his Osteopathic Practice. He authored the book "Manual Therapy: Improving Muscle and Joint Functioning." Dr. Warmerdam presents a gentle, integrative, European approach to manual therapy.

John Heick, PT, DPT

John is an assistant professor at the A.T.Still University program in Physical Therapy. He received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Northern Arizona University, and his Master's and Doctorate degrees in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in Virginia. Prior to his professional work he served as a medic in aeromedical evacuation in the USAF. He is active in the Arizona APTA as a delegate for the State and member of the public relations, membership, and program committees. His clinical experience includes inpatient and outpatient orthopedic, neurological, and emergency department work. He currently specializes in vestibular rehabilitation and orthopedics in outpatient practice.

Chandrika Lotwala, PT, DPT 

Chandrika received her B.S. degree in physical therapy from the University of Bombay, India in 1971. She earned her doctorate degree in Physical Therapy through A.T. Still University in March 2007. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as well as the Arizona Physical Therapy Association (AzPTA), where she has served as both Vice Chair and chairperson for the central district. Chandrika is a guest lecturer at A.T. Still University for doctorate level physical therapy students and Clinical Coordinator for Clinical Education, organizing clinical internships for physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students from A.T. Still University, Northern Arizona University, and Gateway Community College. Chandrika has worked closely with orthopedic surgeons to develop innovative and effective post-surgical physical therapy protocols. These protocols ensure direct communication between physician, patient and physical therapist at all stages of rehabilitation. Coordinating care has proven to provide the highest possibility for optimal recovery and positive outcomes.

David Blum, LMT

David has over 25 years of previous physical therapy experience in the treatment of a wide variety of musculoskeletal and soft tissue disorders and dysfunctions. He is experienced in all facets of manual therapy and teaches these techniques as well. He works closely with other healthcare providers to facilitate a multi-faceted approach to wellness and the maintenance of his clients.  As a faculty member at Cortiva Tucson, he is dedicated to enhancing the skills and knowledge base of future massage therapists.
